Dr. Gerald Lawrence Weinhouse is the medical director of Respiratory Care Services and a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School .

He received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center), followed by fellowships in pulmonary disease at Boston University Medical Center (now Boston Medical Center) and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (now the Perelman School of Medicine ). He is board certified in general pulmonary medicine and lung cancer.

Dr. Weinhouse’s clinical interests include lung cancer and general pulmonary medicine. A National Institutes of Health-funded investigator, he has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications examining a variety of pulmonary and critical care-related issues. His research specifically studies the role of sleep in the recovery of intensive care unit patients. Dr. Weinhouse has been listed as one of the region’s top doctors by Castle Connolly.
