Dr. Gene Bukhman is a cardiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and an Associate Professor of Medicine and an Associate Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Bukhman received his medical degree and doctorate in medical anthropology at the University of Arizona. He completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He completed his cardiology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Bukhman is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and echocardiography.
Dr. Bukhman’s clinical interests include echocardiography and valvular heart disease. His research focuses on the noncommunicable (NCD) and injury burden in populations living in extreme poverty. His is the Executive Director of the BWH Center for Integration Science in the Division of Global Health Equity. He is the founding director of the Program in Global NCDs and Social Change at Harvard Medical School. He is also the Senior Health and Policy Advisor for NCDs at Partners In Health, where he also directs the NCD Synergies project.
