Dr. Sun is a clinician educator with a focus in valvular heart disease and echocardiography.   He has a particular interest and expertise in structural echocardiography for the pre and peri-procedural  evaluation  of percutaneous  valvular procedures  (including transcatheter  aortic valve replacement,  percutaneous  mitral valve repair and left atrial appendage closure).  

In addition to his clinical activities, he is dedicated to the clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows.  He was chosen to be a chief medical resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital and spent the year dedicated to teaching the house staff.  

As an instructor in medicine within the cardiology division at Columbia University Medical Center, he has been invited to lecture both the house staff and fellows several times.  He also served as an informal mentor for several fellows during this time helping with career guidance and also in challenging clinical cases.
