Bio

Arvind von Keudell, MD, MPH is a fellowship-trained board-certified orthopaedic trauma and hip surgeon. He currently is the Director of Orthopaedic Geriatric Trauma Surgery and Research and an Associate Professor, Part-Time, at Harvard Medical School. 

He is a graduate of the Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, Austria. He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital before starting his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. He then underwent subspecialty fellowship training at the Harvard Orthopaedic Trauma Service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital and obtained a Masters of Public Health in Clinical Effectiveness and Healthcare management at the Harvard T. Chan School of Public Health. 

Furthermore, he was selected as the recipient of the prestigious Jack McDaniel AO Travelling Fellowship and underwent additional surgical training in hip and acetabular reconstructive procedures in Bern, Switzerland.

He has published over 70 peer reviewed articles and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons among others. 

Dr. von Keudell’s clinical interests include the treatment of all fractures--including pelvic, acetabular and periprosthetic fractures –and the treatment of post-traumatic osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis of the hip and performs anterior or posterior total hip replacement and revision total hip replacement.
