Dr. Pichamol Jirapinyo is an advanced endoscopist and bariatric endoscopist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she serves as the Associate Director of Bariatric Endoscopy.
She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and master’s degree in public health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed her residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Subsequently, she completed her gastroenterology, bariatric endoscopy and advanced endoscopy fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Obesity Medicine.
In addition to performing therapeutic endoscopic procedures including EUS and ERCP, Dr. Jirapinyo routinely performs both primary endoscopic bariatric procedures and a range of endoscopic treatments of bariatric surgical complications, including weight regain or inadequate weight loss following bariatric surgery. Additionally, she routinely prescribes lifestyle intervention and FDA-approved weight loss medications for patients with obesity and metabolic diseases.
Dr. Jirapinyo’s research interests are in the areas of endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapies as well as endoscopic simulation and education. She has authored over 70 publications and has U.S. patents for several endoscopic simulators.
She is an active member of several professional societies, including the Advisory Board of Association for Bariatric Endoscopy (ABE)/American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Educational Affairs Committee of American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).
