Dr. James Yoo is a member of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.
Dr. Yoo received his medical degree from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine (New York, NY) and completed a general surgery residency at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, MA). He completed a fellowship in laparoscopic colon & rectal surgery, and a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY). Dr. Yoo previously served as Chief of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery at UCLA (Los Angeles, CA), and Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Tufts Medical Center (Boston, MA). Dr. Yoo is board certified in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery.
Dr. Yoo’s research focuses on the tumor microenvironment, tumor-myofibroblast interactions, and colitis-associated cancer.
Dr. Yoo has clinical interests in minimally invasive surgical approaches, colorectal cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, anal dysplasia, and anorectal diseases.
