Dr. Anderson is a trauma and emergency general surgeon and surgical intensive care physician in the Division of Trauma, Burn and Surgical Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Prior to joining the Brigham, Dr. Anderson was a flight surgeon in the Air Force. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University, his master’s degree at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was the administrative chief resident. He completed his trauma and clinical care fellowship at LA County and the University of Southern California Medical Center.
Dr. Anderson’s clinical research focuses on improving the delivery of surgical care in low- and middle-income countries. He was a contributing author to the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, later working in the U.S. and Uganda to implement the findings of the Lancet Commission. Dr. Anderson’s research and outreach efforts have a focus on low- and middle-income countries and global health.
